Operational data (not personal information)

LiftWatch processes SMS events from lift phone units. These events contain device status information (battery status, mains power status, call events) and are associated with device SIM numbers — not individual persons. This data is operational in nature and is not personal information under the Privacy Act.

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy (APP 3).

4. Why We Collect It

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We share personal information with the following service providers as necessary to deliver LiftWatch:

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.

We may disclose personal information where required to do so by law or in response to a lawful request by a government authority.

6. Overseas Disclosure

LiftWatch is built on Cloudflare's global infrastructure. Requests are processed via Cloudflare's Australian edge nodes. However, Cloudflare D1 (our database platform) does not currently offer an Australia-specific storage region. Data at rest is stored on Cloudflare's global infrastructure in accordance with Cloudflare's data processing terms and GDPR-equivalent safeguards.

Some service providers (Resend) operate infrastructure internationally. Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information in a manner consistent with the APPs (APP 8).

7. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access (APP 11). Our security measures include:

In the event of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988.

8. Retention and Deletion

We retain customer account information for the duration of the subscription and for up to 12 months after cancellation to allow for dispute resolution and compliance obligations, after which it is deleted.

Operational event logs are retained for the life of the deployment. Customers may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us.

9. Your Rights — Access and Correction

Under APP 12 and APP 13, individuals have the right to request access to personal information we hold about them, and to request correction of inaccurate information.

To make an access or correction request, contact us at privacy@liftwatch.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Direct Marketing
